Media Contact: Arby's Restaurant Group And Arby's Franchise Association Enter Into Management Agreement ATLANTA (August 18, 2005) - Doug Benham, President and CEO of Arby's Restaurant Group, Inc. (ARG), today announced that ARG has entered into a management agreement between ARG and the Arby's Franchise Association (AFA), Arby's marketing organization. Under the contract, ARG will provide general managerial responsibility for the day to day operations of AFA, and in consultation with the AFA Board, will develop the marketing strategy and annual marketing calendar for the Arby's brand. "This agreement further strengthens our system and provides for better alignment, collaboration, and a renewed commitment to brand innovation," said Benham. "It represents a great opportunity to create unity internally, and position Arby's for significant growth." Matt Johnson, chairman of AFA, said, "While the AFA Board of Directors approves the annual marketing plan, each franchise operator has a significant, mutually beneficial relationship with AFA. AFA recommends marketing and strategic direction based on critical input and guidance from each franchise operator, resulting in innovative menu offerings, profitable sales, and brand growth." Johnson is President and CEO of DRM, a second-generation Arby's franchisee operating 62 Arby's restaurants in the Midwest. The new agreement is similar to a 1979 agreement that was in effect for 12 years.
