Media Contact: Arby's® Donates $1 Million To Big Brothers Big Sisters Ft. Lauderdale (February 23, 2005) - Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) received a $1 million donation from Arby's® in celebration of the agency's centennial anniversary. Arby's is the world's largest corporate sponsor for BBBS, and has been providing support to assist in the education and development of America's children through mentoring programs at local chapters as well as the national organization for nearly 20 years.Doug Benham, president and CEO of Arby's, along with Debbie Pike, president and chief marketing officer of AFA Service Corporation, Arby's marketing and advertising arm, delivered the check to Judy Vredenburgh, president and CEO of BBBS. "I'm proud to present this check on behalf of the entire Arby's family," said Benham. "It represents their hard work, dedication and understanding of the importance of fostering and developing the youth of America. Many Arby's franchisees and employees donate their time to BBBS while assisting the organization financially so that it can match one million 'at risk' children by 2010." "With the support of our dedicated franchisee and vendor communities, Arby's continues to demonstrate its system-wide commitment to making a difference in the lives of young people," said Pike. "The Arby's Charity Tour and Arby's Adventure Meals are two examples of fun and unique ways we gather support that we then share with Big Brothers Big Sisters." "We are thankful for the generous donation and the leadership Arby's demonstrates by helping children reach their potential through our professionally supported, one-on-one relationships," said Vredenburgh. "This is a partnership that we value tremendously."
