Arby's® Reinvents The Fast Food Salad With Its New Market Fresh® Salads

New Salads Extend Market Fresh® Line Providing Consumers More Choices for Convenient, Great Tasting, Nutritionally Balanced Meals

FT. LAUDERDALE, Fla.

(April 27, 2004) - Expanding its successful Market Fresh® line, Arby's, Inc. today announced it has added three new restaurant-style salads to its already diverse menu. The new Market Fresh Salads, available at Arby's nationwide beginning May 2, 2004, provide consumers great taste and nutritionally well-balanced choices because they are made using higher quality ingredients.

"Arby's new Market Fresh Salads are a natural extension of our Market Fresh line, which is synonymous with great taste served fast," said Doug Benham, president and CEO of Arby's,Inc. "The tremendous response to our deli-style Market Fresh Sandwiches shows we understand consumers' need for variety. Today, consumers want to embrace nutritional balance without giving up flavor, and our new salads provide both."

Arby's medley of Market Fresh Salads are made from fresh ingredients, including spring-mix greens and vegetables, and are blended with high-quality, exotic flavors to entice consumers' palates. The Martha's VineyardTM Salad has fresh-cut apples, dried cranberries, toasted almonds and diced grilled chicken; the Santa FeTM Salad is made with grape tomatoes, tortilla chips, cucumbers, red onions and chopped Arby's chicken fingers; and the Asian SesameTM Salad includes mandarin oranges, Asian noodles and diced grilled chicken. All of the entrée-size salads can be customized to consumers' taste and nutritional preferences.

"Consumers have recently been bombarded with nutritional information. As much as 73 percent of fast-food eaters who are interested in making sure their family eats healthy and nutritious meals are confused about what is healthy," explains Kathleen Zelman, MPH, RD/LD, registered dietitian and nutrition consultant. "Arby's Market Fresh Salads contain an excellent source of high-quality lean protein, are high in fiber, and include 'smart' carbohydrates from great tasting fruits and vegetables."

Consumers with specific dietary requirements, such as low sodium, low carbohydrates or managed caloric intake, are better able to meet those requirements with Arby's® expanded Market Fresh® line. In addition to the Market Fresh Salads, Arby's offers to consumers flexibility, great taste and choice from its Market Fresh® Low CarbysTM Wrap, served on a low-net carb*, whole-grain wheat tortilla, to any Market Fresh Sandwich that can be served without the bread. All items in the Market Fresh line can be customized for consumers whether ordered for in-restaurant dining or from drive-thru service.
